Annie is an advanced yoga teacher with decades of experience, and is no stranger to West Norwood, having performed at South London Theatre on many occasions over the years.
Annie has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. During that time a passion for practicing yoga grew and grew, until finally she took the plunge and gave up her fitness manager role to spend more time on the mat.
When not teaching yoga, Annie performs all over the country as Sybil in a Fawlty Towers dining experience, as well as at murder mystery events.
Annie feels so lucky to now have two careers that she is so passionate about, and was kind enough to tell us about her summer.
Annie's classes are held every Weds evening 6.45 to 7.45pm
“My passion for yoga is now so deeply rooted that I decided to spend the whole of August training in Dahab, Egypt, where I graduated with a Diploma, meaning I am now an advanced yoga teacher.
Part of the course was to assist and mentor a group who were on the way to becoming teachers themselves. It is so wonderful to see and be part of peoples growth.
After Egypt I had just five days back at home and then was off to Antalya in Turkey where I was running a yoga retreat.
It was absolutely stunning and everyone had the most amazing time. We started the day with a sunrise meditation, followed by morning practice. After our hard work we feasted over a long leisurely breakfast, of wonderful fresh produce and fresh breads, cheese, fruit, yogurt, in fact so much food it was hard to know what to choose…..hence it being so long.
Our days were spent soaking up the sun with bike rides along the sea front, relaxing by the pool and even some organized day trips… a day lounging on a beautiful boat, snorkelling or simply sunbathing, and swimming in the crystal clear sea whilst our fish was being barbequed and served like a banquet fit for a king.
Another trip was an evening walk up fire mountain, reaching the top in time for the sunset and watching the sky fill with stars whilst cooking our marshmallows over the mountain fires.
In our evening practice after our relaxing days, I spent time on the philosophy of yoga which I have a real love for and think it is life changing, and a technique session helping everyone to grow in their practice and understanding.
The week and the friendships that grew was certainly a testament to the experience and strength that comes from practicing yoga.
I am so excited to continue learning and growing and feel blessed to have the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge.”
