Creative writing to celebrate your community

Come along to one or more of our four fun FREE creative writing sessions themed around your community. Beginners welcome.

A few fun exercises to get you thinking creatively will be followed by tips and guidance to get you started. There will be time allocated to working on your writing and optional sharing of your work.
Please note this is not a therapeutic writing workshop.

Thursday 2nd May   Poetry and People
Try your hand at writing a poem – or two – about a person – in your family or the wider community, in the present day or historical, fact or fiction.

Thursday 16th May   Stories from your community
The focus will be on how to write a story based on a positive experience of your community no matter how small.  How people helped each other or made a joint effort even for the smallest event – there’s a heart-warming story in there. Why not be the one to tell it?

Thursday 6th June   Poetry and Places
Have a go at writing a few verses about places that have inspired you. These could be much loved local landmarks, or holiday destinations with happy memories.

Thursday 20th June   Favourite local haunts
Learn how to write a story sharing the magic of a local hidden gem – whether it’s a cafe table, a bun sold at a bakery or a seat at a bus stop where you watch the world go by. We all appreciate it when our local areas are brought to life because someone has written about them – let that someone be you!
